What makes us different?

Superb music facilities

At University of Chichester we use the Music Conservatoire with modern facilities, well-equipped practice rooms and an acoustically superb performance area.

Each small band/ensemble has its own teaching room throughout the week, fully equipped with piano (mostly grands), bass amp, drum kit, guitar amp and music stands.

Also available for students' use are double bass, vibraphone, marimba and concert harp.

Rhythm sections

Numbers are capped at 5 rhythm sections - one pianist, one guitarist, one bassist, one drummer and two frontline players in each ensemble.

Vocal section

Vocal numbers are capped at 8 singers with their own teaching room, a dedicated vocal tutor and a professional accompanist.

The room is equipped with grand pianos, mics & stands, music stands and PA system.

Creature comforts

Our en-suite accommodation and dining hall are just two minutes away from the teaching rooms.

While ensembles use the same teaching rooms throughout the week, teachers rotate. This way students have the benefit of working with all of our tutors.

Performance opportunities

Students have the opportunity to form their own band for nightly performances, with post-tutorial time for rehearsals.

The 'Jazz Club' is open to the general public – a wonderful showcase for the day’s work.

Academic development

For students intending to apply to Music Schools, Academies and Conservatoires we offer audition preparation and mock auditions led by Music Academy professors.
